"Tailleurs Cailleurs (meaning pruners-pickers) are based in the village of Saint-Jean-Ie-Vieux, on northern side of Bugey. Here Chloé Bey and Jordan d'Osualdo farm a number of small plots spread across the area, working organically and biodynamically in order to promote a healthy and active ecosystem around the vines. In the cellar no sulphur is used at any stage and all wines are aged in demi-muids before bottling without filtration.
Grenala is Gamay from a plot of 50 year old, south-east facing vines growing in clay-limestone at 550m altitude. Fermented in whole bunches with some carbonic maceration, this is very delicately extracted with an ethereal quality to the crystalline cranberry, raspberry and alpine herb aromas."
